YOUR WEBSITE ONLINE IN 4 STEPS FOR £500
Step 1. Domain Name / Hosting. The first thing you will do, is pick a name for your new venture! We would be more than happy to help you with suggestions. We will use your details to organise, pay for, and set up the domain and hosting in your name. The cost of this will be paid by you to the hosting company – not to us. This means everything is completely in your control from the beginning. The hosting will run for at least one year and any renewal communication from the web-hosting company will be sent directly to you.
Step 2. Installation. We will install the open-source and popular WordPress software for you. We use WordPress because it is fairly easy to learn, has a widespread user base, and because it is free.
Step 3. Layout. We will have a meeting with you to get a feel for the style of site you would like and then will pick a layout to match your business or hobby. If you have a logo, we can incorporate it. We will also create a few webpages that we anticipate you will want, for example, a Blog, an About page, and a Contact page, but you may like to think about listing your Services or Products, or even upgrading to include an Image Gallery. Don’t worry, we will explain all these as we go along!
Step 4. Populating Your Site. You will either want to look after your new website yourself once it is setup (You’re Da Boss Package), or you may prefer us to help you a little more by filling it with content (Lazy Bones Package). Either way, we will be here to help. Only one of these steps is included in your initial package, however, you can upgrade to the other Package at any time. Conditions apply.
You’re Da Boss Package. As well as the first 3 steps, we will also include 2 x 1 hour sessions with you, here in the studio, to show you how to update and populate your site with your content. You may wish to send along the person who will be in control of the ongoing website, if that isn’t you. We will present you with a booklet containing all the information, passwords, etc., pertaining to your site, so you can control it from then on. The site will be left in such a way that you could either maintain it yourself or hand it over to another website developer at a future date for further tweaking.
Lazy Bones Package. As well as the first 3 steps, we will ask you to provide text and/or images, usually via email, for us to proof, and insert as content. Proofing means that we check spelling, grammar, and ensure that your text is optimised for the web and will rank well in search engines. We include 2 hours time in your price to cover this. Should you have a much larger site in mind and ask for more than 2 hours, we will bill our time to you at our normal hourly rate. Usually 2 hours is enough time to add 8-10 additional pages. As for the You’re Da Boss package, we will present you with a booklet with all the information, passwords, etc., so you have everything at your fingertips to take over and maintain the site yourself at any time, should you wish to do so.
Maintenance. If you ever need more help with your site, we can maintain the content for you at a rate of £15 per quarter hour, no matter when you come back to us. Most minor changes only take 15-30 minutes.
